Milo was not your typical rhinoceros. While most of his kind were solitary and territorial, he had a curious spirit that set him apart. Living on the vast African grasslands, Milo was known among the other animals for his unexpected gentleness and surprising personality.
Each morning, Milo would wake before the sun fully crested the horizon, his massive frame moving surprisingly quietly through the tall grasses. He loved the early hours when the world was still cool and misty, and the oxpecker birds would perch on his back, picking away parasites and chirping their morning songs.
Despite his intimidating size, Milo was more of a gentle giant. He preferred grazing peacefully to charging, and he had a particular fondness for the small watering holes where elephants and other animals would gather. Unlike many male rhinos who were aggressive and territorial, Milo seemed content to share space and resources.
His one quirk was his intense curiosity. When something caught his attention - a strange sound, an unusual movement in the grass - he would investigate, turning his head slowly to get a better look. His poor eyesight meant he relied more on his acute hearing and sense of smell, adding to his cautious yet inquisitive nature.
As the day would grow warm, Milo would find a muddy patch and wallow, coating his thick skin to cool down and protect himself from insects. The other animals would watch him with a mix of respect and amusement, knowing that beneath his tough exterior beat the heart of a creature who was more thoughtful than most would ever understand.
